It is disappointing to hear that government has decided to not proceed with the declaration of tyres as a “priority product” under the Waste Minimisation Act 2008. The industry group that prepared the submission must have been confident that the decision would have been more favourable given outcomes of other waste stream reviews. I can only imagine that the industry stakeholders who participated in the preparation and submission of the proposal must have taken a rapid gasp when the announcement was made.
